Ital Gas Storage

Ital Gas Storage (IGS) is the first independent private operator in the Italian gas storage market.

Whysol has promoted and managed the entire authorization process and the preparation of the IGS industrial plan from 2008 to 2015, when it entered into a joint venture with North Haven Infrastructure Partners (a fund managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners). In this second phase, it has guided the financing of the project and the construction of the plant, which was completed in 2018. Today, it is a minority investor and is involved in the management of IGS, particularly in regards to Public Affairs activities aimed at monitoring the correct implementation of the industrial plan.

In 2016, IGS was awarded the EMEA prize for the Best Finance Project 2016 by the magazine IJGlobal (Infrastructure Journal and Project Finance Magazine) for the over 1 billion EUR debt financing provided through a club deal involving 10 national and international lenders.
